PS Vita Slim coming to North America this Spring with Borderlands 2
Well, it has finally happened: PS Vita Slim is coming to the U.S. this spring. Yesterday, Sony held a meeting at Sony Santa Monica where they talked about the state of Playstation and released info that the Vita Slim would be coming with a bundle that would include Borderlands 2. The price was announced at $199 only $10 more than the current Vita is selling at, and there is talk of it coming in a standalone package as well. On top of that Sony announced that a God of War collection that includes God of War one and two would be coming to Vita as well.
This is huge news for the Vita, which has struggled to sell since being released over two years ago. However, Sony also announced that 1 in 3 PS4 owners are buying Vitas to use as remote play, which has increased Vita sales. The announcement of the Slim could bring even more sales due to a lower price and a must have accessory for the PS4. Things are looking up and although the games announced are just ports of PS3 releases it is still more content coming to Vita. The ability to replay through great games from the PS3 era on the go could bring some excitement back to Vita and potentially get more publishers to develop new IP’s for the platform.
My opinion of this is very high being a current Vita owner and knowing how good the platform is and can be with just a little more support. I highly recommend any gamer to at least give Vita a try and especially if you have a PS4 because it brings even more than a handheld to your PS4 experience. Remote play is amazing, the games that have been released are amazing, PS Plus freebies are amazing, and of course Playstation now coming will be another amazing feature. This is the perfect time to pick a Vita up and I expect sales to greatly increase.
