Microsoft Appoints New CEO

NadellaSatya Nadella has been announced as the next Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, taking over from Steve Ballmer.  Nadella was formally the executive vice president of the company’s Cloud and Enterprise group, leading the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world.

Nadella said: “The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but to seize it, we must move faster, push harder and continue to transform”.

Microsoft founder Bill gates is also stepping down as chairman, and assuming a new role within Microsoft as technology adviser, which allows him to devote more time towards the company’s direction with products and technology.

Gates said: “During this time of transformation and remarkable opportunity for Microsoft, there is no better person to lead the company than Satya”.
