PCSX2 Updated!

pcsx2

PCSX2, arguably the most popular software for PlayStation 2 emulation, was finally updated to version 1.2.0 (now 1.2.1). This update brings a multitude of of bug fixes and improved software, allowing it to take better advantage of the user’s PC. This will allow faster performance and a higher fps during game play. Most wouldn’t guess, but emulation is actually very taxing on a system. While systems like the NES or PlayStation One are very easy to emulate, PlayStation 2 emulation is very tough to get up and running. To give you an idea of how tough it can be to build this software, we are no where near being able to emulate PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 at a playable frame rate. Either way, this new update is definitely a push forward in emulation technology. With added support for new plugins and games, it allows the user to get as close to playing a PlayStation 2 as possible.  For those new to the subject of emulation, it allows someone to play their games without having to damage their physical copy or remove it from any display or packaging. Emulation is very popular with game collectors for this reason. Of course, emulation is only legal when a physical copy of the game is already owned. We here at GearPop do not condone the act of pirating. If you enjoy a game or company, they deserve your full support.
